At the Innovation Summit of the German Hotel Association, members vote Hotelbird’s new digital guest ident including automated vaccination proof as “Product Innovation of the Year”.
(Berlin 22.09.2021) The Munich-based technology company Hotelbird won the coveted industry award “Product Innovation of the Year” yesterday at the Innovation Summit of the German Hotel Association (IHA) for its new digital guest ident with automated vaccination verification. The award winner was chosen by the members of the IHA.
Digital, multichannel-capable and contactless are the services that have found their way into more than 500 hotels in German-speaking countries over the past few years through the Munich-based technology company Hotelbird. As they see the need to remain competitive in the future with digital, efficient and hygienic services, Hotelbird offers a variety of features along the classic guest journey from digital check-in and locking system to digital check-out and payment. However, the main focus of the IHA members was on new functions for the fulfilment of the vaccination proof obligation as well as the secure, automated guest identification
The core of this solution is the ID wallet app with an individual QR code. The security of the data stored in it is based on blockchain technology. The advantage: The hotel can check in guests securely and automatically – as identification and proof of vaccination are stored in a forgery-proof manner, unlike pure upload solutions.
“We are very grateful for this recognition given to us yesterday by the members and leadership of the IHA, with Otto Lindner and Marcus Luthe. Together with our partners – in the case of ID recognition, the German government, IBM and Esatus – we will continue to play our part in making the hotel industry fit for the future. The entire Hotelbird team is very pleased,” said Juan Sanmiguel, CEO and co-founder of Hotelbird, thanking them. “All nominated products were very strong, which shows the innovative path our hotel industry is on now. And our heartfelt congratulations also go to our colleagues from DialogShift – the other IHA Industry Award winner in the StartUp category; we sincerely wish them that their path will be as successful as ours has been in the past years.”
“The technology company Hotelbird from Munich is leading the way in working on innovative, new solutions for the digital renewal of the hotel industry,” said IHA Chairman Otto Lindner at the award presentation in Berlin. Lindner congratulated the winners: “We are pleased about the strong acceptance of our competitors and are proud of the diversity, quality and innovative strength of the entries and congratulate the winners from the bottom of our hearts.”
